Kingfish worked with Wynnchurch Capital to evaluate a manufacturer of non-woven fabrics and specialty synthetic fibers used in carpeting, automotive fabrics and craft fabrics. With strong technology and an enviable position in automotive, the team quickly realized the incredible potential for the business to successfully expand into retail sales channels.
In collaboration with former executives like Chris McKee, a former GM and Global Product Merchant from The Home Depot, the team gained deep insights into the company’s product and competitive positioning, and helped validate the opportunity for growth into big-box retail. Post close, Chris McKeee joined the board. The company successfully landed a nation-wide contract with a big-box retailer and is well on it’s way to continued growth.

As a respected industry insider, Jim helped build trust with management and Calvert ultimately prevailed due to factors beyond price.

Kingfish worked with private equity firm GenNx360 to evaluate the acquisition of a founder owned ingredients business going through a sale process. Before proceeding, the team needed to quickly understand the company’s differentiation, competitive positioning and the sustainability of the growth opportunity. We worked with several executives within the industry to develop a differentiated point of view.
Our advisory team included Peter Bradley, former division President at Sensient, the $1.5Bn ingredients manufacturer, and Dr. Ram Chaudhari, who founded Fortitech and grew it to ~$70M in EBITDA at its sale to DSM. With the ability to quickly validate the business's defensibility and growth opportunity, plus an advisory bench to help make it happen, the GenNx team could confidently pursue the transaction.
Several of the executives joined the company to help make the vision a reality, with Peter joining as CEO and Ram joining the company’s board.

Over several years, Kingfish Group worked with JLL Partners as they proactively developed opportunities in outdoor building materials. Through this work we forged relationships with strong executives such as Mike McGrady, a former executive at John Deere Landscapes.
We were well positioned when a family-owned hardscaping supply company sought liquidity in a potential transaction. A successful investment in the company would require a clear growth strategy and a person such as Mike to lead it.
The Kingfish team worked closely with JLL and executives from the industry to validate the company’s differentiation and help determine their strategy. These insights and relationships helped JLL move decisively to close and drive the future growth plan.
